Applications

Solutions for Diverse Industrial Applications

Activated carbon removes unwanted compounds from water, air, gases and process streams by adsorption. The right form and grade depend on what you need to remove, and from what.

Quality

Quality Defined by Specifications

Every requirement begins with an understanding of the intended application, relevant product parameters, and customer expectations.

  1. Application and requirements

We start with what the carbon must do, the operating conditions and any customer-specific technical requirements.

  2. Product specifications

Relevant parameters for the application are agreed in writing, so the grade offered matches the grade expected.

  3. Material inspection and sizing

Material inspection, including particle-size and mesh analysis, is coordinated with our manufacturing partners.

  4. Quality documentation

Specification sheets and test documentation are shared where available for the grade and shipment.

  5. Packaging and dispatch

Packaging is agreed to suit the product, the destination and your handling requirements.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

General information about activated carbon, and how to request specifications from MEBRIX.

What is activated carbon?

Activated carbon is carbon that has been processed at high temperature to create a highly porous structure with a very large internal surface area. Its pores adsorb impurities from liquids and gases. Coconut shell is one of the most widely used raw materials.

What is the difference between GAC and PAC?

Granular activated carbon (GAC) consists of granules, typically used in fixed beds, columns and filters that liquid or gas flows through. Powdered activated carbon (PAC) is a fine powder dosed directly into a liquid and removed afterwards by settling or filtration.

What are activated carbon pellets?

Pellets are activated carbon extruded into uniform cylinders. Their regular shape gives an even bed with relatively low resistance to flow, which is why they are common in gas-phase and air purification.

What are activated carbon desiccants?

They are products that hold activated carbon in sachets or packs, placed inside packaging or enclosed spaces to adsorb odours and vapours. How well a given product controls moisture depends on its formulation, so check its specification against your application.

What applications use activated carbon?

Common applications include drinking water and wastewater treatment, gold recovery, air and gas purification, industrial filtration, and the purification of chemical and food-processing streams.

What should buyers consider when selecting a grade?

Start with the application and the contaminants to be removed, then consider the product form, particle size, contact time or flow conditions, hardness for handling, and the documentation your process or market requires.

Does MEBRIX offer customised grades?

MEBRIX discusses product grades, specifications and packaging options aligned with each customer's requirements, coordinated with its selected manufacturing partners.
